Marina Barrage

Built across the Marina Channel, Marina Barrage forms Singapore’s 15th reservoir, the first the city’s heart. Marina Barrage is a result of former Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew’s nearly 20 year old vision of damming the mouth of the Marina Channel to create a freshwater reservoir.
The Marina Barrage is a showcase of urban water sustainability, going beyond water supply and flood control. The Barrage demonstrates how an urban water solution can be effectively utilised to meet water needs and enhance the living environments for a better quality of life.
